Happy Holiday For You

A few days ago was International Women's Day. And, let me tell you something, China does Women's day right. Stores give you free things (usually snacks!). Restaurants and cafes give you discounts. And everyone wishes you a Happy Holiday that is "for you"! It's great! However, Women's Day was on a Tuesday so we didn't get to fully bask in the day like we could have if we didn't have school, so we changed our celebration. Instead of only celebrating for a day, we celebrated a little bit everyday for pretty much the whole week! Today was the final celebration with a lunch at our favorite Korean restaurant and a trip to the nail salon to get nail art (which is actually the real topic of this post).

In reality, nail art is why I decided to come back to China. Nail art is this super cool thing where they paint your nails fun colors and then paint cool designs on them and then stick bows and glitter and jewels all over them. It's the best.

Our friend, Sofia, has a friend who owns a nail shop and it's right in the middle of Da Xi Men (Big West Gate) between one of our friends restaurants and another friends store! So, on Fridays, after school and our classes at the Kindergarten, we head over to get our nails done and hang out! We have only gone a few times, because last semester we were trying to save for Thailand, but now that Thailand is over it's become our favorite treat to ourselves! And we get to hang out with Sofia, Summer and their sweet dog Lady while we're there!

Also, I have found that, when I am having a particulary hard day at school, I can just look at my pretty nails and forget about my troubles!
